kearney street corridor
Client: City of Springfield, MO Category: Land Use Planning, Economic Analysis, Community Engagement
PGAV created a corridor study with public engagement for the revitalization of Kearney Street, a former Route 66 bypass route. The community engagement process included a community workshop at the local library, survey design, social media promotion, City staff meetings, two City Council presentations, and a press release. PGAV Planners presented ideas for the revitalization of Kearney including an identification of prime sites for redevelopment, placemaking strategies, and recommendations for economic development tools to facilitate development along the three-mile stretch of Kearney Street. PGAV suggested that the City commemorate the corridor’s Route 66 heritage through historic Route 66 plaques and branding as well as capitalizing on the nostalgia for cruising, custom cars, and drive-in restaurants.
