city-wide zoning update

Client: City of Crestwood, MO Category: Community Planning

Following a recent update to its Comprehensive Plan, PGAV was engaged in early 2018 to conduct a comprehensive review and revision of the City of Crestwood’s zoning code. Spurred by the recent development projects, Crestwood’s zoning code was outdated and inconsistent. PGAV worked with the City and other stakeholders to produce new, comprehensive zoning regulations and an updated zoning map. In addition to land use regulations, this process involved extensive investigation into Sign Ordinances to ensure consistency and compliance.

As a part of this project, PGAV partnered with Trailnet, St. Louis’ bicyclist and pedestrian advocacy organization, to implement an update to the zoning code that laid the framework for a more sustainable ordinance that will ensure the inclusion of bicycle and pedestrian guidelines in future development. As part of this process, PGAV and Trailnet hosted a Pop-Up Bike Lane event to engage residents and stakeholders in the planning process, resulting in a more comprehensive pedestrian and bike friendly municipal code for the City.
